TESTING  Rally to Change The STAKES 4/24/14

It's Simple. WE DEMAND that our classrooms no longer have to bear the unfair burdens of testing and filling in systemic gaps. Although many testing companies are profiting from the masses of students taking and studying for these exams,  only a staggering 60.9% of High School Students in 2011 have graduated, of the 39.1% of youth who did not graduate in NYS 28% were Hispanic and black, and 35% from high need districts. By not only having boring and limiting test centered curricula around regents exams, but also severe ties with regents and promotion policy, youth are not graduating high school in ridiculously large numbers. Nowadays, one can not even work in McDonalds without a Diploma.

By implementing Common Core into our current regents centered education, the rhetoric that pretends to stop the racism and classism is obvious saviorship for the test making companies to profit off of.

As the same dehumanizing evaluation methods are being re-implemented, our right to be humans who are creative, intelligent, and critical is being forgotten. Stop talking with your Data Jargon and stop trying to "fix" us. Stop selling our minds and schools short to a decent education. We want diverse methods to be used that access and enable learning through portfolio assessments and not countless exams. We want them now.

We will not conform to your standards any longer.
